Lady of Light (Thought I haaad uploaded this but apparantly I have not :). Done bout 6 months ago now I think? ) 10 points if you recognize who I modelled her after. That's right Galadriel from LOTR. There was one photo in particular of Galadriel that always stuck in my mind, and so I wanted to pay Galadriel Homage in animal form. I am rather proud of the piece, shortcomings and all. It is one I got rather attached to. Celtic knotwork..eh could use a lot of work...I was actually quite lazy with it and just freehanded it instead of lanning ahead. This is the first piece in a series of artwork that is still technically ongoing (which I am working on over an uncertain length of time). Featuring anthropomorphic characterisations of North American wildlife and influenced by Native American Indian craft and culture. The art direction is something different to what I usually do, and this is quite a leap for me. I don’t usually concern myself over consistency in style and I’ve paid painful attention to the element of realism here… the characters are not my usual ‘animal head on human body’ result and I’ve completely reviewed the anatomy. Back to the actual art; a coyote performs a sacred smudging ceremony with bound sage bundle and feather fan. I’m a sucker for feathers! :p (Artwork © Leona Preston 2005)

Feb. 2005 Acrylic on a peacock feather. Approx. 5"x7". This piece was a challenge because I have never drawn frogs before (much less painted them) and working on a peacock feather was... difficult! Even with a good coating of acrylic fixative, the strands were very delicate and did not hesitate to split. But anyways, here it is, a little tree frog climbing on a peacock feather.

A gift for a friend of mine and very talented artist Kenket! Pyrography on tagua with acrylic highlights. I have never drawn lemurs before, so this was quite a challenge. This pictures is about double the actual size of the pendant, and the colors are a lot softer in person. It's only about 2 inches tall total.
